Infection control

Infect-Control-symbol

Infection controls and universal precautions are designed to protect both patients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team. The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care.

Dental Euroclinic, being one of the few practises in Cyprus to use exclusively autoclavable (sterilized) hand pieces (drills), maintains a strict regimen of infection control. The most advanced sterilization technology, until recently found only in large hospital sterilizers, are being used in our sterilization cycle. We have implemented Class B sterilization standards, through pre & post vacuum tabletop autoclaves, and have met the strictest EN 13060 European standards.

The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel. We are always available to discuss any aspect of our infection control regimen. Feel free to ask for a tour and description of our sterilization area.

Sterilization

Infection-Control-cycle

We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental handpieces. We have invested in hospital grade equipment including ultrasonic cleaner, dental sterilization sealing machine, dental hand piece maintenance unit (thorough cleaning, disinfection and lubrication) and multiple autoclaves (devices that kill bacteria and viruses by steam, heat, and pressure).

The entire clinical team of Dental Euroclinic follows procedures recommended by several American federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These standards include:

  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Gloves (Latex free) and face masks
  • Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
  • Disposable materials, were indicated
  • Use of disposable barriers wherever possible
  • Strict Sterilization protocol using sealing pouches and autoclaves (a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure, is used to sterilize all instruments)
  • Sterilization of all equipment and instruments before every use
  • Sterilization of all dental hand pieces (drills)

DVGW

In addition, all treatment rooms have been customly ordered and equipped with DVGW Certified water treatment kits that continously disinfect the water passing through the unit, thus completely eliminating the possibility of contamination from stagnant water in supply lines. In addition each unit has the option to by-pass the mechanism and draw from self-contained sterile water supplies or saline solutions.
